The Broomhill Freddies are a high‑energy traditional band with a frankly unreasonable amount of combined experience — and a firm belief that folk music should be loud, joyful, and impossible to stand still to. Blending Irish and Scottish songs with gusto, they serve up a bold, feel‑good sound powered by rich three‑part harmonies and a gloriously eclectic instrument pile‑up — banjo, mandolin, fiddle and whistle jostling happily alongside guitar, bass, and drums/percussion.
With roots stretching from Sligo and Belfast to Scotland and the sunny shores of Gibraltar, the band brings together a musical upbringing that’s as varied as it is lively. Their sets leap cheerfully from crowd‑pleasing sing‑along favourites and hair‑raising Gaelic airs to full‑throttle jigs and reels — the kind that start with a polite foot‑tap and end with your granny demanding “just one more tune,” purely for the craic, obviously.
Based in Edinburgh but always up for an adventure, The Broomhill Freddies are happy to travel nationwide, bringing energy, atmosphere and a proper party wherever they go. The band provides a high‑quality PA system and lighting rig as standard, with lighter background music available on request — whether you want a gentle buzz, a roaring knees‑up, or something that accidentally turns into both.
Basically: bring your mates, wear sensible shoes, and don’t make plans for the next morning. The Freddies will take care of the rest.
